Best Dog Bowls for German Shepherds
OFTO Raised Dog Double Bowls Stand
Using a raised feeder has great health benefits for your German Shepherd. It’s ideal for relieving strain from your dog’s neck and back.
If your dog is older or suffers from arthritis, a raised feeder will ease their pain during meal times.
And because the bowls are elevated, you’ll experience less spills, keeping your floors clean and dry.
There are a ton of raised feeding stands out there. But when you start digging, most of them are poorly made. They tip over easily and their bowls show signs of rust.
That’s why I love this raised feeder stand by OFTO.
It’s handcrafted in the US of A! So it’s free from any questionable materials from China and safe for your GSD.
It also has carries the Green People Seal of Approval. Which means all the materials are non-toxic and eco-friendly. So it’s safe – even if your pooch licks or chews on it.
You have a bunch of size choices to pick from. And the 17″ raised feeder from OFTO is recommended for the German Shepherd.
I love that this raised feeder is super stable and made from 100% solid wood. The double feeder also comes with 2 high quality stainless steel bowls which hold 3 quarts (12 cups).
OFTO also offer 3 different stain finishes: natural, rusty nail and forest trail. So you can pick a color that blends in with your interior decor.
Cleaning the feeder is a breeze too. Simply wipe down the wood finish with a damp cloth. And the stainless steel bowls should be washed with soapy, hot water.
It is a little on the pricey side, but if you consider how well it’s made compared to cheaper feeders, it’s well worth the one-off investment.
All things considered, I rate this as one of the best dog bowls for German Shepherds.

Outward Hound Slow Feed Dog Bowl
This slow feeder from Outward Hound is not only fun but also healthy.
German Shepherd’s are prone to bloat. Which is life threatening and once it happens, chances are you won’t make it to the vet in time.
The maze-like design encourages your dog to forage for their food. This has a bunch of positive spin-offs…
Firstly, it’ll slow your pooches roll during meal times by at least 10 times, which is great to prevent bloat. Slower eating habits also help in reducing gas and runny tummies too.
It’s also a great way to improve digestion and weight control. Not to mention the fact that it’s mentally stimulating too.
I love that the materials are BPA, PVC & Phthalate free, so they are non-toxic and totally safe for our dogs. It’s also recommended by vets, specifically for it’s health benefits.
The Outward Hound Slow Feed Dog Bowl is suitable for feeding kibble, wet food and even a raw diet. And can hold up to 4 cups of kibble.
And cleaning is as easy as popping it on the top shelf of your dishwasher. But hot soapy water will do the trick too.
And if your pooch tends to push their bowl around during meal times, you’ll be happy to know that this one has a non-slip base.
I love that these bowls are very reasonably priced! In fact, you can buy a few with different designs to keep things interesting!
On the downside, some folks have complained that their dogs tip the bowl over. But I think with some supervision and training your doggo will learn to eat from the bowl instead of tipping it out.
I highly recommend this bowl for German Shepherds who tend to gulp their food.

Neater Feeder Express Pet Bowls
If your pooch is a messy eater or drinker the Neater Feeder might be the solution you’ve been looking for.
The idea behind the Neater Feeder is to catch any spilled food and water.
Its clever design is made up of two basins. The top layer catches any spilled food. And it also has a section of where spilled water drains through to the bottom basin.
The feature I like most about this feeder is the raised sides on the top layer. This does a good job of catching those stray kibbles and water.
And the feet have a rubber backing so this feeder is kick-proof too. It comes with two stainless steel bowls that can hold roughly 7 cups.
It also doubles up as an elevated feeder which has some great health benefits like keeping your dog’s body aligned properly. It’s got a feeding height of 5.5″ from the ground to the rim of the bowl.
This particular one is recommended for a doggo that measures over 9″ at the shoulder and weighs over 18 lbs.
You’ll be happy to know that this feeder is made in the USA, so it’s free from any questionable materials from China.
The durable plastic material makes it a great option if you feed your dog outside. Although, I think with extended exposure to the sun this feeder will perish.
It’s worth mentioning that I don’t think this feeder is appropriate if you’re feeding wet food or a raw diet. The spilled food will slip through the drainage holes and make a huge mess.
Also, if some of the kibble ends up on top of the drainage holes, you’ll end up with a mess too.
For this reason, I only recommend this feeder if your dog is not too messy.
